Senthil tells her the truth about Ram, as he had two sides in his mind. The story then returns to reality with Janani finding a suicide letter in Ram’s coat, and after reading it, she inquires Senthil about his death. The two get married with Ram’s fathers help and lead a happy life.
She is then ostracized from her family by her mother and she lands up at Ram’s door. When Janani’s mother explains that they are moving to America, Janani burns her passport so she can stay with Ram. When Janani also begins to love him back, she is stopped by her poor family. He begins to follow her around with his friends Kumaran and Senthil. He sees Janani in college and has a crush on her straighaway. She recalls their memories from when they first met and the story starts in a flashback when Ram and Janani were 12th grade students. His wife Janani ( Shruti Haasan) realizes that her husband did not die naturally, as she finds his room with blood spatters. The story opens with the death of Ram ( Dhanush). Ram is forced to take a decision in that problematic situation. Apart from the usual misunderstanding difficulties that newly-married couples would face, this is of a different kind. When they start a fresh life, problems start to grow up. As they grow up, so does their affinity for each other, and despite opposition from the elders, they tie the knot. The film takes on a journey through the love story of Ram ( Dhanush) and Janani ( Shruti Haasan) who are 12th grade students and eventually fall in love with each other. The film released on 30 March 2012 in its original Tamil version along with a dubbed version in Telugu, to positive to mixed reviews and was an average grosser at the box office. Much hype was created about the movie due to the viral marketing of the song “ Why This Kolaveri Di“.
Soundtrack and background score was composed by debutante music director Anirudh Ravichander while the cinematography was handled by Velraj. It stars Dhanush, who himself co-produced the film, alongside Shruti Haasan. 3 is a 2012 Tamil romantic drama film directed by Aishwarya Dhanush who made her directorial debut with the film.
